ASGE Receives Major Gift from Olympus; Olympus Becomes 1st Founding Member of ASGE Foundation's Corporate Council

Oak Brook, IL (October 16, 2002) - Olympus America Inc. became the first founding member of the Corporate Council of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Foundation by presenting a gift of $100,000 to the Foundation.

The ASGE Foundation Corporate Council will aid ASGE to broaden the base of support for research and public education in the use of GI endoscopy for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of digestive disorders.

"ASGE has a longstanding, valued relationship with Olympus. Its commitment to be a founding member of the Corporate Council of the ASGE Foundation is another example of this partnership," said Michael Kimmey, MD, chair of the ASGE Foundation Board of Trustees. "I am delighted that our colleagues at Olympus see the value in funding endoscopic research. The future of the specialty depends on the research funded today."
