Olympus Exhibits New Olympus OLA1500™ Lab Automation System At AABB (Automation for Blood Processing Laboratory)
Orlando - (American Association of Blood Banks Annual Meeting) Oct. 26, 2002.
Adding to its line of timesaving lab automation solutions, Olympus Diagnostic Systems Group is exhibiting the new Olympus OLA1500™ automated pre- and post-analytical blood sample processing system at the annual AABB meeting in Orlando, Florida.
Designed to meet the needs of medium to large transfusion services, small donor centers and reference laboratories, the Olympus OLA1500 streamlines workflow and reduces costs associated with sample processing by automating sample identification, decapping, output sorting and archive preparation of sample tubes.
The system sorts, decaps and archives up to 1,500 tubes per hour. It selectively sorts and decaps most sample tube sizes and closures, and automatically sorts sample tubes into most manufacturers' instrument sample racks. Sample tracking enables quick specimen identification and automated cap removal reduces exposure to biohazards and blood-borne pathogens.
For easy use and maximum efficiency, the Olympus OLA1500 uses a Windows NT® operating system, Pentium processor, touch screen user interface and image recognition software.
