Olympus Customer Named 2003 Medical Lab of the Year by MLO Magazine
Melville, N.Y. (May 31, 2003) - A physicians' office laboratory (POL) in Nevada that relies upon the Olympus AU400™ chemistry-immuno analyzer for on-site testing has been honored as the 2003 Medical Lab of the Year by Medical Laboratory Observer (MLO) magazine. Family Doctors of Boulder City, Nevada, located in the shadow of the Hoover Dam, was named the best lab in the nation by the publication in its April issue.
Family Doctors offers an extensive set of testing services and procedures. In the article, Pat Armour, MT (ASCP), laboratory supervisor, said that in the past three years the lab has undergone an expansive renovation and upgrade. With help from Olympus America Inc. Diagnostic Systems Group and Olympus distributor Fisher HealthCare, Armour was able to put together a complete system that cost less per month than the lab had been spending on supplies and service alone for its 10-year-old chemistry analyzer.
The esteemed panel of judges who made the selection included Leland Baskin, MD, MS, FCAP, Division Head, General Laboratory, Calgary Laboratory Services, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Dennis J. Ernst M(ASCP), Director, Center for Phlebotomy Education Inc., Ramsey, Indiana; and C. Anne Pontius, MBA, CLS(AMT), MT(ASCP), President of Laboratory Compliance Consultants Inc., Raleigh, NC.
As illustrated in the MLO article, Olympus Diagnostic Systems Group provides innovative solutions that meet the high productivity demands of physicians' office laboratories as well as hospitals, integrated healthcare delivery networks, reference labs, blood banks and pharmaceutical labs. Olympus solutions save laboratories time, maximize productivity and deliver fast, reliable results.
