Olympus Offers Ceruloplasmin and Cholinsterase Reagents

Melville, N.Y. (June 22, 2003) - Ceruloplasmin and Cholinesterase reagents in bar-coded cartridges are now available from Olympus as the newest additions to the company's 122-test menu. Optimized for use on Olympus AU400e™, AU600™, AU640e™, AU2700™ and AU5400™ chemistry-immuno analyzers, these reagents offer unparalleled standardization instrument-to-instrument.

Ceruloplasmin, the primary copper-containing protein, is an acute phase reactant whose serum concentrations rise significantly during surgery, myocardial infarction, and inflammatory processes. The Olympus Ceruloplasmin reagent is a liquid, ready-to-use formulation featuring 60-day on-board and 14-day calibration stability.

Cholinesterase, used to assess liver function after excessive exposure to organophosphate insecticides, is also useful for predicting susceptibility to prolonged apnea after the administration of succinylcholine. The Olympus reagent features 30-day on-board stability.

The reagents are available now. For additional information about the Olympus reagent line, users can visit the Olympus web site at www.olympusamerica.com/diagnostics or call the Olympus Diagnostic Systems Group at 1-800-223-0125.
