Olympus Offers A New Way Of Looking At Stereo Microscopes

Melville, NY, November 9, 2003 - Three stereo microscopes introduced by Olympus offer users a completely new look at stereo microscopy, with the exceptional comfort of new eyepieces and ergonomic features, along with the largest zoom ranges in their classes. The SZ61, SZ51 and SZX7 zoom stereo microscopes come in a wide variety of configurations and have an extensive series of accessories so they offer more flexibility than ever. Incorporating a full new line of Olympus stereo optics, they offer outstanding performance in every price range.

The SZ61 and SZ51 are compact, with a smoothly contoured finish. A bold, updated ergonomic design includes the company's newly-introduced ComfortView eyepieces, which help make viewing more natural for faster, better results. Accessible, responsive controls make the instruments a pleasure to use. Incorporating a Greenough optical system, the microscopes deliver excellent flatness and ample depth of field, with exceptional image brightness, clarity and detail, along with accurate color representation and minimal distortion. The SZ61 offers a record zoom ratio of 6.7:1; the SZ51 offers a best-in-class zoom ratio of 5:1. The microscopes are easily adapted for photodocumentation, advanced applications and teaching.

The SZX7 stereo microscope features a Galilean optical system, previously restricted to more specialized bioscience research systems. Its high-performance apochromatic optics provide distortion-free viewing, with outstanding image clarity, true color and accurate reproduction of the original specimen in crisp detail.

The SZX7 has a zoom ratio of 7:1, which is the highest in its class. A full line of cameras and accessories, along with its modular construction, ensure that the user can easily adapt the system to accommodate specimens of any type or size. A fluorescence system with coaxial illumination allows bright observation, even with weakly-emitting specimens.
