Camera Adapter for Olympus DSU Confocal System is Designed for Low Light Level Applications
Melville, NY, March 21, 2005 - Olympus now offers a new 0.6x camera adapter for the DSU spinning disk confocal microscope system. The 0.6x adapter complements the 1x adapter and provides increased system flexibility and application support. By offering the lower magnification adapter, the DSU can be optimized to work with small CCD digital cameras. The 0.6x adapter reduces the DSU's standard field number from 11mm to 7.6mm, thus focusing the available light onto a smaller area and providing a more efficient, optical equivalent to binning the CCD array. With both the 1x and 0.6x camera adapters, the DSU can be configured optimally for a wide range of applications and CCD detectors.
The DSU system is designed to provide excellent optical sectioning and motorized operation with the flexibility of an arc lamp excitation source. It uses a proprietary, patent-pending slit disk technology to offer enhanced signal transmission, while maintaining excellent confocality. The technology allows an arc lamp excitation source to be used, offering maximum wavelength flexibility in an economical package.
The DSU disk and optical components deliver outstanding performance down to 340nm. Disk operation is motorized, allowing a computer to switch remotely between widefield and confocal imaging modes. The system offers full-frame CCD image capture up to 200 frames per second with a streamlined single-disk, opto-mechanical design.
