Olympus AU-CONNECTOR™ Consolidates Chemistry-Immuno Workcells, Maximizes Throughput

Orlando, FL, July 26, 2005 - The Olympus AU-CONNECTOR™ allows up to four Olympus clinical chemistry and immunoassay systems to be integrated into a single consolidated workcell for streamlined workflow and maximum throughput. The workcell design supports STAT processing, single loading area for routine specimens and single user-interface to monitor multiple instruments.

The Olympus AU-CONNECTOR is designed to provide operational savings along with flexibility and maximum efficiency. Consolidation of chemistry and immuno testing reduces the need for aliquots, and intelligent sample routing between the analytical modules maximizes throughput. Once analysis is completed the system can perform both secondary sorting and archiving processes.

The AU-CONNECTOR is designed to link up to four Olympus analyzers and is compatible with the AU640e® and AU2700® chemistry analyzers, along with the AU3000i™ immunoassay system. The analytical modules can be operated in "connected" or "stand-alone" modes.

In addition, when used in conjunction with the Olympus OLA2500™ laboratory automation system or OLA2500 High Speed Sorter, it provides a comprehensive solution for mid-to-large volume laboratories, including pre-analytical sample handling, decapping, aliquotting, sorting, loading, transporting, and archiving.

Olympus America Inc. anticipates that the AU-CONNECTOR and the AU3000i will be available in early 2006. At the current time they are being previewed and are for research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedures.
