Olympus and Novation Sign Multi-Year Agreement

Center Valley, PA, March 26, 2008- Olympus America Inc. and Novation LLC have renewed a multi-year agreement covering the purchase of Olympus automated chemistry systems by Novation members. Novation is a leading health care contracting services company, serving VHA Inc. and the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC). Olympus chemistry analyzers enable laboratories to perform high-speed, high-throughput clinical chemistry testing.

The agreement sets the terms under which Novation members can acquire Olympus AU® series analyzers, automation systems, reagents, consumables, parts, service and technical support. The contract spans three years and may be extended up to two additional years. It is a renewal and expansion of the prior Novation-Olympus agreement, which had similar terms, and which was extended through a full five years. Olympus was selected again because of its analyzers’ reliability, cost effectiveness, user-friendly operation, speed and accuracy, and because of the level of support services Olympus offers. In addition, Olympus’ ability to standardize procedures, consumables and workflow across its full line of chemistry analyzers from the smallest hospital
facility to the largest reference laboratory was a key consideration.

“We are delighted to have been selected as a high-quality, cost- effective solution for VHA and UHC member facilities,” said Hiroshi Sekiya, Director of Marketing for Olympus America’s Diagnostic Systems Group. “These members can now standardize workflow, reagent and supply ordering, training, processing, and other functions across all their facilities from the largest to the smallest, using the most advanced chemistry and automation solutions on the market. This will help them continue to achieve their service and cost efficiency objectives.”
