Date: 3/14/06 Olympus Imaging America Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, today announced a voluntary recall of the following 35MM silver halide cameras. The following cameras are affected by this recall: These cameras were sold and distributed by Olympus between January 1989 and December 1995. Approximately 1.2 million units were sold. Olympus America Inc. has received 21 reports of camera or flash circuitry overheating that may be related to this defect in the U.S. with no reports of injuries. As a result of this recall Olympus is offering a free repair program to owners of the models in question to fix this defect. Consumers should examine the front or top cover of the camera to verify the camera model name. If you have one of these models please contact Olympus at 1-800-480-1247 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday for instructions on how to send the camera in for free repair.
