The CD-ROM provides a full Reference Manual in PDF format on the CD-ROM. Adobe Acrobat - which is provided on the CD-ROM - is necessary to view the PDF manual. The printed manual that is included with the camera is a "Basic Manual".
How do I download from the camera to my computer?

What is the "pixel mapping" function and what does it do?
The pixel mapping function checks the CCD and image processing functions. For optimized results, be sure to activate the pixel mapping function only after the camera's power has been turned off for at least one minute following shooting or playback.
I slide the cover open, but I am unable to take a picture?
The cover opens in two positions. To completely open the lens cover for shooting images, slide the lens cover over until you hear two clicks. When the camera is on the first position, you can playback images.
How do I check the amount of images that I can take and the quality mode?
Press the monitor button. The amount of images that can be stored and the selected quality mode will appear in lower-left corner of the LCD display.
How long do the batteries last in the Olympus D-40 Zoom camera?
With the provided Olympus CR-V3 batteries, you will get approximately 300 images under normal use. Using the Olympus Ni-MH batteries, you can get approximately 120 images per charge, and with alkaline batteries you would get approximately 30 images.
