The Stylus 410 Digital claims to be all weather. What does this mean?
The Olympus Stylus 410 Digital camera will not be damaged by water splashed onto it from any direction and can be used outside in adverse weather conditions such as snow or rain. The Stylus 410 Digital camera is all weather, not waterproof, and cannot be immersed in water. It is designed to operate at ambient temperature 32º-104ºF and relative humidity of 30-90%.
What do I need to do maintain all-weather capability of my camera?
The following steps can be taken to maintain the all-weather:
Important note: The rechargeable battery and other camera accessories are not weatherproof. Care should be taken when using the accessories.
- Make sure that all the covers are closed before using the camera. The camera loses its all-weather capability if the battery compartment cover, connector cover or DC-IN jack cover is open.
- Wipe any water off the camera before changing the battery or card.
- If the camera gets splashed, wipe the water off as soon as possible with a dry cloth. Saltwater spray or droplets can cause damage to the camera if the camera is not wiped dry as soon as possible.
- Do not apply excessive force to or attempt to peel off the rubber packing of the battery compartment cover, connector cover or DC-IN jack cover.
- If the rubber packing of the battery compartment cover, connector cover or DC-IN jack cover contains dirt or sand, wipe it off before closing the cover.
- If the rubber packing becomes worn or damaged, contact the nearest Olympus service center to obtain a replacement part.

What is the best situation to use each of the shooting modes?
The shooting modes are described as follows:
- Program Auto (Factory default setting)
Program Auto mode is used for regular photography. The camera automatically makes the settings for natural color balance. Other functions, such as the flash mode and metering, can be adjusted manually.
Portrait mode is suitable for taking a portrait-style picture of a person. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions.
- Landscape + Portrait
Landscape + Portrait mode is suitable for taking photos which include both your subject and the landscape. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions.
Landscape mode is suitable for taking pictures of landscapes and other outdoor scenes. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions.
- Night scene
Night scene mode is suitable for shooting pictures in the evening or at night. The camera sets a slower shutter speed than is used in normal shooting. If you take a picture of a street at night in any other mode, the lack of brightness will result in a dark picture with only dots of light showing. In this mode, the true appearance of the street is captured. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. If you use the flash, you can take pictures of both your subject and the night background.
Indoor mode enables you to take pictures while indoors by allowing the flash to reach farther away.
- Beach & Snow
Beach & Snow mode enables you to take pictures of scenery containing white sand or snow.
Cuisine mode enables you to take pictures of food by increasing the saturation, sharpness and contrast settings to take sharp, vivid pictures of the subject.
Self-portrait mode enables you to take a picture of yourself while holding the camera. Point the lens towards yourself, and the focus will be locked on you. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. The zoom is fixed in the wide position and cannot be changed.
- QuickTime Movie
QuickTime Movie mode lets you record movies with sound. The focus and zoom are locked. If the distance to the subject changes, the focus may be compromised.

Super Macro mode lets you shoot from as close as 3.5 inches to your subject. Normal shooting is also possible, but the position of the zoom is fixed and cannot be changed.
How many pictures can l take with a fully charged battery?
The supplied rechargeable Lithium Ion battery provides approximately 150 shots per charge with typical usage.
How can I extend the life of my battery?
Using the flash and LCD monitor affects the rate at which the batteries will drain. The rate at which pictures are taken will also affect battery life. When taking pictures sequentially the battery does not have as much time to recover between each shot. To help to extend the life of your battery, the flash, LCD monitor, and sequential shooting should only be used only as necessary.
Do I need to take the battery out for charging?
Yes, the battery needs to be charged in the charger supplied with the camera. You cannot charge the battery inside the camera.
How many times can the Lithium Ion battery be charged?
It can be recharged approximately 1000 times.
How long does it take for the Lithium Ion battery to be charged?
After the battery has been charged once, full charging time is 2 ½ - 3 hours. The Lithium Ion battery does not have to be discharged completely before recharging. It can be recharged at any time.
When I take the battery out for charging, will my camera lose time and my custom settings?
