Submission of Photos
Each entrant should submit no more than four (4) photos. Photos submitted that comply with the Terms and Conditions will be entered into the photo contest (the "Contest").
All entries (including any physical photograph(s) submitted) shall become the property of Olympus Imaging America Inc. ("Sponsor") upon submission and will not be returned. Each entrant warrants the originality of each entry submitted by him/her and that he/she owned all rights in each such entry useat the time of its submission. Please note that all winners will be required to authorize Sponsor to reproduce/publish the winning photos on the web site, in marketing collateral or anywhere else.
Sponsor assumes no responsibility for lost or late entries. Sponsor reserves the right to reject any submission for any reason.
All federal, state, provincial, territorial and local laws and regulations apply. This Contest is void where prohibited by law. Each potential winner must sign an affidavit of eligibility in compliance with the rules and a publicity release within fourteen (14) days after notification is attempted. A consent and release of identifiable persons in the photograph must be provided. Failure to provide these releases will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner. Unless prohibited by law, each entrant consents to the use by Sponsor, and others acting under the authority of Sponsor, of the entrant’s name, likeness and image for publicity purposes without additional compensation. In addition, each contest winner is responsible for paying any and all taxes on his or her prize(s).
By accepting a prize, winner agrees that the Sponsor, its respective subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, and their directors, employees, representatives and agents, will have no liability whatsoever for, and will be held harmless by winner for any liability for any injury, loss or damages of any kind to persons, including death, and property, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prize or participation in this Contest or any prize related activity.
In the event of a dispute, entries will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. The "authorized account holder" is deemed the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, service provider or other online organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. The potential winner may be requested to provide Sponsor with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the winning entry.
If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, human error or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest and award those prizes from among all eligible entries received prior to cancellation or termination. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. The Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, any combination thereof, or otherwise, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the Contest. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

Sponsor may pick a number of the submitted photos to be featured in its online photo gallery. Photos submitted from entrants living in locations ineligible to win the Contest may still be featured in the gallery.
The Contest is only open to students attending participating universities/colleges (see list of participating schools identified under “Participating Universities” below) (the “Participating Universities”) in the United States. Entrants must be enrolled in one of the Participating Universities and have reached the age of majority in their state, province or territory of residence as of the date of entry. Employees of Olympus Imaging America Inc., its respective parent, affiliated or subsidiary companies, or members of an employee’s immediate family and/or those individuals living in the same household of each are NOT eligible.
Each photo submitted must have been (i) taken by the entrant and (ii) taken with an Olympus® E-System camera. Photos taken with any other kind of camera will not be eligible. Original file mist be available upon request. If it is determined after the winners are announced that any winning photo was taken with another kind of camera, the prize will be revoked and another potential winner announced.
Individual photos previously featured in the Olympus photo gallery or those photos that have previously won an award in an Olympus photo contest are not eligible to win.
The Contest begins on October 13, 2008 at 12:00:01 a.m. and ends on March 15, 2009 at 11:59:59 p.m. (the “Entry Period”). All entries must be received prior to the close of the Entry Period. Any entries submitted after the deadline will be disqualified.
The Contest’s theme is “YOUR WORLD: The Art of Technology Through Your Eyes.” Entrants are to identify the innovation or technology that has most impacted their world, and capture its beauty.
A panel of Olympus Visionary judges will judge the submitted photos. The photographs will be judged based on originality (25%), photographic quality (25%), composition (25%), and appropriateness to the theme (25%). One (1) photo will be selected as the potential winner for the Contest (the “Contest Winner”).
Additionally, the judges will identify twenty (20) finalist photos. The finalist photos will be posted online at www.olympusamerica.com/yourworld, beginning on April 15, 2009 at 12:00:01 a.m. and ending on May 15, 2009 at 11:59:59 p.m. Online voting will determine the one (1) potential winner out of the twenty (20) finalists by greatest number of votes received (the “Finalist Winner”).
All judging decisions are final.
Announcement of Winners
The Contest potential winners will be announced in June 2009, notified and provided with appropriate forms as outlined under “General Regulations.”
A total of three (3) prizes (two students: one Contest Winner and one Finalist (Public Vote) Winner, and the contest winner’s designated professor) will be awarded following the conclusion of the Contest, in June 2009. The Contest Winner will receive one (1) $5,000 scholarship1, one (1) prize of two Olympus E-3 cameras, ED 12-60mm F2.8/4.0 SWD Zoom lens, ED 50-200mm F2.8/3.5 SWD Zoom lens and kit bags. The Finalist Winner will receive one (1) prize of two Olympus E-520 cameras, 14-42mm lens and kit bags.

As previously outlined, qualifying entrants must attend one of the aforementioned Participating Universities.
The $5,000 scholarship will only be awarded to the Contest Winner winning student, not the professor.
