When is digital really digital? When your lens talks to your camera.
Better technology, better photos.
Live View, Live Performance Adjust to any situation, from any angle.
With Olympus’ Live View technology, you can take easier overhead shots, better macro shots and quicker candid shots. E-System Live View equipped cameras let you overcome barriers and discover new creative opportunities shooting from angles not possible with an optical viewfinder.
Not only does the Live View Monitor expand your shooting opportunities, it lets you preview the effect of different settings — in real time — right on the brightly lit LCD.
Live View Boost brightens the monitor to help you easily see your subject when shooting in bright light conditions. The camera automatically adjusts the LCD’s brightness level to allow for easier composition.
Even depth of field can be confirmed in real time using the Live View monitor. You can preview the result of moving the foreground and background in and out of focus.

Proven Dust Reduction System Capture pristine, detailed memories every time.
Every SLR photographer knows a single spec of dust can potentially ruin an otherwise pristine image. With an Olympus E-System Digital SLR, you don’t have to worry about dust. Our proven Dust Reduction System vibrates a filter in front of the image sensor at supersonic speed to powerfully knock off dust. No dust, no worries.
Digital SLR cameras are susceptible to dust contamination because airborne particles can enter the camera whenever lenses are changed. So you need to protect the image sensor — and the low pass filter in front of it — from airborne dust. Olympus’ dust reduction system does just that, and it is located in the body of the camera, so it works with any lens.
The Super Sonic Wave Filter (SSWF) system uses piezoelectric actuators to vibrate a circular glass filter at supersonic speed, and the round shape of the filter ensures an evenly dispersed vibration for extremely thorough cleaning action. The SSWF automatically cleans itself by vibrating over 30,000 times per second every time the camera’s power is switched on.
Dust particles dislodged from the surface of the filter are then collected in a dust trap to keep them out of circulation. And, because the supersonic drive does not generate static electricity, there's no danger of it attracting dust during extended operation.
Powerful technology helping you capture all of life’s details: The Olympus Dust Reduction System doesn’t just break static electric bonds — it disrupts molecular attractive forces that cause dust to adhere to the filter.
100% Digital Specific Zuiko Digital Lenses When is digital really digital? When your lens talks to your camera.
Our 100% Digital Specific Zuiko Lenses are smart. How smart? A chip in the lens communicates basic information with the camera body, producing vibrant color and edge-to-edge sharpness. Olympus Four-thirds upgradeable technology allows you to shoot with the most current firmware available. Smart digital lenses, for smart digital photographers like you.
A fundamental characteristic of digital SLR image sensors is that light rays must strike them straight-on to achieve high-quality imaging. When a 35mm film camera lens is mounted on a digital SLR camera, light at the periphery of the lens tends to strike the sensor diagonally, resulting in loss of sharpness, color bleeding, and dark images. To achieve the best image quality and performance for E-System cameras, Olympus designed its lens family exclusively for digital imaging. The result? Lenses that deliver light to the sensor almost straight-on — both in the center and at the periphery — to ensure consistently high image quality even when using wide-angle lenses.
TruePic™ III Image Processor Better technology, better photos.
Professionals want superior color and quality, and so should you. TruePic™ III is our fastest processor yet. It gives you better color and quality through true-to-life skin tones, brilliant blue skies, precise color transitions, more detail and less image noise. On top of all that, TruePic™ III provides faster performance with faster write speeds to your media cards, faster shot-to-shot times and faster connectivity to your PC or Mac.
TruePic™ III is the engine that drives the camera’s performance and brings your images to life. There are three specific TruePic™ III technologies.
Advanced Noise Filter III technology precisely separates noise from image data to create a lifelike reproduction of your subject with minimal noise.
Advanced Detail Reproduction technology precisely detects edges for smooth edge-to-edge reproduction and removes color artifacts.
Advanced Proper Gamma III technology improves the ability to independently control luminance and chrominance signals, and it assures a more realistic reproduction of pale color tones.
