GIF-N180: Transnasal/Sedationless EGD
Richard Rothstein, MD,1 lends his expertise on sedationless endoscopy using the super-slim GIF-N180 while performing procedures on two patients. He offers procedural tips and discusses the scope’s attributes as well as the benefits of sedationless EGD for patients, physicians and facilities alike. The following video clips also provide patient perspectives on their sedationless experience

GIF-N180: A Marvel of Compact Design
Charles J. Lightdale, MD,2 comments on his experience using the GIF-N180, calling it a milestone in the development of endoscopy technology, allowing for both screening and tissue sampling, but thin enough for sedationless procedures. He comments on the superior comfort delivered by the scope’s thin design and the patient convenience sedationless procedures offer. With a shortened recovery time and the scope’s outstanding handling characteristics and excellent imaging, Dr. Lightdale also believes the cost savings per procedure can be significant.

CF-Q180AL INTRODUCING THE 180 SERIES—COLONOSCOPES(.mpg 27.6 MB)
The EVIS EXERA II 180 series colonovideoscopes offer excellent observation and exceptional insertion capabilities. With a lineup of scopes featuring advanced functionality, such as 170º field of view, auxiliary water function in the PCF model, and slimmer designs, the 180 wide angle scope aids in the observation of lesions, making examinations quicker and more efficient while enhancing patient comfort, as demonstrated in the following two procedural videos.

CF-Q180AL: Wide Angle Colonoscopy
While performing colonoscopies, Drs. Doug Rex3 and Richard Rothstein1 explain the benefits of wide-angle endoscopy, including brighter imaging with no distortion on the periphery and a 30º wider field of view. Both of these features aid in seeing the full circumference of the rectal wall and the ability to see visual cues faster, leading to shorter times to the cecum and during withdrawal. Both doctors explain that enhanced procedural speed and the scope’s ease of use may lead to faster room turnover as well as less operator fatigue.
