Melville, N.Y. (January 16, 2003) - The Diagnostic Systems Group of Olympus America Inc. and LAB-InterLink have entered into a collaborative project to develop a universal laboratory automation interface for Olympus AU chemistry-immuno systems.
Olympus AU systems will connect and integrate into any laboratory automation track system that complies with NCCLS standards using the software and mechanical interface in development by
LAB-InterLink. The first unit will be installed at a large medical center in Philadelphia. The agreement enables Olympus to broaden its menu of workflow solutions with connectivity to new or existing laboratory automation systems without the need to retool laboratory enterprise systems.
"This development agreement between Olympus and LAB-InterLink is a strategic initiative to offer customers a viable option whether a track based laboratory automation system is currently installed or under consideration," said Stephen Wasserman, Group Vice President, Olympus DSG. "It enables us to draw from the best pool of resources in order to address laboratories' demands for plug and play, scaleable automation that fulfills their particular goals and budget targets."
"Our development agreement with Olympus represents another step in our commitment to open systems architecture," stated Mary Newcomb, Chief Operating Officer, LAB-InterLink. "By building relationships with analyzer manufacturers such as Olympus, we are working to ensure that our customers continue to have the flexibility they require in their laboratory automation solutions."
