Olympus EndoEYETM Surgical Videoscope Receives "Innovation of the Year Award" From Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons
LAS VEGAS, NV, Sept. 22, 2003 - The revolutionary design and functionality of Olympus's EndoEYETM Surgical Videoscope today was recognized with an "Innovation of the Year" award at the 12th International Congress of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons."The EndoEYE family of surgical videoscopes was designed with one thing in mind: providing surgeons with an innovative, sophisticated, reliable instrument that would make it easier for them to deliver outstanding care to their patients," said David C. What makes the EndoEYE Surgical Videoscopes truly unique is the revolutionary new digital imaging technology which places a miniaturized CCD chip at the instrument's distal tip - right at the site of surgery. Placing the imaging device in the tip of the device makes fragile rod lenses a thing of the past, and allows images to be processed 'on site' without interruption and without any degradation of optimum image quality. In addition to providing consistent image quality, having the CCD chip distally mounted allows the surgeon to, in effect, look directly at the surgical site, rather than 'looking in through a window,' as is the case with standard scopes.
The EndoEYE family of surgical videoscopes includes the world's first fully autoclavable videoscopes in both 10mm and 5mm versions, available in both straight viewing and 30° angled viewing. In addition, the LTF-V3 deflectable tip EndoEYE surgical videoscope allows for unmatched maneuverability and viewing capabilities with its four-way angulation system.
The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons is a 6,000 member international organization which offers a unique, multi-disciplinary approach to the study and education of minimally invasive surgery by bringing together different medical specialties who use the techniques and tools of minimally invasive surgery.
