MicroSuite™ FIVE features user-defined workspaces: the desktop configuration can be saved with one click of the mouse.
Multiple images can be opened simultaneously using the Viewport Manager, and windows can be synchronized for zooming in or out. The Navigator allows the user to zoom in on a particular region of an image while still maintaining a point of reference in the overview image.
An intuitive GUI makes it easy for users to toggle between standard and full-screen mode to focus the specimen more easily. New toolbars make frequently used commands available with one click.
MicroSuite™ FIVE introduces the new multidimensional file format which rivals that found in other 3D software programs. One file can be up to 2 GB in size (the maximum file size allowed by Windows®) and can include Z-stacks, T-stacks, and multiple color channels. During visualization, efficient data-swapping with the hard drive ensures that only the portion of the file being viewed is loaded into RAM. Using 16 bits per channel, the multidimensional images are saved with a TIF extension, and can be converted to standard TIF format for compatibility with other software applications such as Adobe® Photoshop®. Users can also elect to capture single images in the standard TIF format, if desired. Icons in the Image Manager define the file type at a glance:
Monochrome single image
Monochrome time stack
Multicolor single image
Multicolor time stack
Monochrome Z-stack
Monochrome Z-stack over time
Multicolor Z-stack
Multicolor Z-stack over time
In conjunction with the new file format, the Stack Navigator enables the user to create composite images and projections, as well as navigate through different color channels, Z-positions, and time intervals image-by-image, or by the use of animation tools.

With the Slice Viewer (Basic Edition and higher), an image stack (one color channel or all color channels) can be observed through the X, Y, and Z planes, at any point in the stack.
The Voxel Viewer (Advanced Suite only) creates a 3D representation of an image stack (one or more color channels), and therefore, can be used with Olympus confocal images or other Z-stacks. The software includes 3D measurements and isosurface projections for these stacks.
