Olympus NetCam Offers Image Sharing through the Internet: A Feature of MicroSuite™ FIVE Imaging Software
Center Valley, PA, August 15, 2006 - NetCam, a feature of Olympus MicroSuite™ FIVE imaging software, allows the microscope user to share images easily with colleagues or students in other physical or geographical locations . Designed for use with a number of cameras, including the Olympus DP71, DP70, and DP20 cameras, along with many other popular cameras, NetCam uses TCP/IP to broadcast a live image over the Internet via an assigned static IP address.
Sharing images for consultation or training is simple. Up to 50 remote client computers can simultaneously log on and view a live or captured image using a standard web browser . The primary user can manually or automatically adjust the microscope and camera parameters; capture, annotate, and send images; and control access by remote users. Remote users can view live images at 800 x 600 or 640 x 480 pixel resolution, and captured images either at full resolution, or compressed for faster transmission. Remote users have no control over the camera or the microscope.
MicroSuite™ FIVE imaging software is fully integrated with Olympus research microscopes, including the BX61, IX81, SZX, and AX70 motorized microscopes, as well as third party stages and other devices. NetCam is available as part of MicroSuite FIVE's Pathology Edition and higher-level packages.
