The BX61 is a fully motorized research microscope built on the platform of the traditional upright frame. All major microscope functions can be completely automated, including focus, illumination, objective lens selection and filter wheels. A complete software command set allows for full computer control. The BX61 is an ideal platform for automated imaging systems demanding:
  • Automation of repetitive tasks
  • Automation of complex and time-sensitive operations
  • Remote operation via networks or internet
  • Timed sequences covering hours or days
The BX51 offers increased rigidity coupled with easy-to-operate front controls on a compact space-efficient frame. The new research microscope is a union of the expanded range of Olympus infinity corrected optical systems (UIS2 - universal infinity system) and advanced fluorescence or differential interference contrast DIC (Nomarski) technology. Based around an enhanced Y-shaped frame, an extended range of accessories and objectives can be used. The rigid design accepts a variety of heavy attachments required for today's discerning microscopists and their various techniques and accessories.

The BX51WI is a special-purpose research microscope designed for electrophysiology. The BX51WI provides the stability crucial for patch clamping and is equipped with dedicated water immersion objectives designed for near IR illumination at 775 and 990nm. The WI line of objectives is designed with long working distances and large approach angles for manipulator access. The optical system is tailored for high-contrast, high-resolution imaging under the challenging conditions of thick brain slice observation.

The BX61WI combines all the features of the BX51WI plus a built in z-axis focus motor with 0.01µm resolution. The z-axis motor allows remote focusing via a remote handset or computer. The BX61WI is designed to work seamlessly with the Olympus FV300/500/1000 confocal systems.

Two focusing units are available for combination with the BXFM Olympus microscope system. The BXFM-S unit can be combined with a compact reflected light brightfield illuminator (U-KMAS) with a depth of only 290mm from the optical axis to the rear of the lamp housing. The BXFM unit accommodates all reflected light brightfield/darkfield and fluorescence illuminators. Fiber illumination, with the option of external control, can be used with both models.

The systems UIS2 infinity-corrected optical system has improved image quality and flexibility. Even when the distance between the objective and tube lens is altered, the improved optical design of the tube lens maintains magnification and image integrity. This optical capability and flexibility is of great advantage when accommodating special needs, such as thick, opaque biological specimens or other original equipment configurations.
